It is important for each believer to know why he or she prays, or needs to pray.
Here is only a few reasons for prayer. Please feel free to share more with us.
Prayer is about approaching God with reverence, growing in His love and grace with thanksgiving.
…do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God (Philippians 4:6).
Prayer helps us to grow in our relationship with God and those around us.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity (Philippians 4:7-10).
Prayer is also accessing the limitless wisdom and weaponry of God to push back the powers of darkness and thwart their wicked agenda. Through the medium of prayer we do not change the purpose of God, but the action of God, which enables us to rise triumphantly in each and every circumstance (Jurgen Matthesius).
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place (2 Corinthians 2:14).
