Mercy and Truth

We are bound by a covenant of love and sacrifice with Jesus Christ as our example. Thus to walk in the ways of the Lord sometimes demands sacrifices and this includes the way we treat each and everyone around us.

Do not those who think evil go astray? But mercy and truth shall be to those who think of good.
(Proverbs 14:22.)

Mercy and truth should thus be the foundation of our daily conduct. Our lives should also be filled with testimonies of God’s involvement in our daily lives.

“The soul that sins, it shall die.”
God’s Word is Truth. He cannot lie.
O sinner lift your voice and cry!
God’s law leaves no hope for you and I.
But mercy met truth in unity.
They kissed each other at Calvary
As a spotless Lamb in agony
Was left to die upon a tree.
Sinner hang your head in shame.
Know ye not we are to blame?
Death his victim now had claimed.
The Lamb entered Satan’s dark domain.
O Son of God; Thou Crucified!
My sin You bore. My death You died.
You became Love’s Sacrifice
For only You could pay sin’s price.
But in hell the Lamb made not His bed.
Instead He crushed the serpent’s head.
The demons quaked in fear and dread
As God raised Jesus from the dead!
How perfect this plan God did devise!
Without a hint of compromise
God’s Holy Law was satisfied…
Now mercy abounds toward you and I.
Such wisdom! that cross of Calvary.
Such love displayed for all to see!
There sin was judged, but sinners freed!
There mercy kissed truth. O victory!

All the ways of the Lord is mercy and truth, to such who keep His covenant and testimonies. Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from Heaven.
Psalm 25:10-11.

The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; You have founded the world and its fullness. The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in Your name. You have a mighty arm; Your hand is strong, and Your right hand is high. Justice and judgement are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth shall go before Your face. Blessed is the people that knows the joyful sound; they shall walk, O Jehovah, in the light of Your face. In Your name they shall rejoice all the day; and in Your righteousness they shall be lifted up. For You are the glory of their strength; and in Your favour our horn shall be lifted up. For Jehovah is our shield; yea, our King is the Holy One of Israel.
(Psalms 89:11-18.)
