For God to use us to wield the sword we must have a spirit of wisdom and revelation and be full of His love. The sword with truth only and not love is like a machete, it maims and inflicts terrible wounds. The sword with both truth and love is like a surgical scalpel…it cuts with precision and removes the corruption or cancer from our souls. It still hurts but He who wounds us will also bind up our wounds. So when we minister the word we must always keep this as our focus and goal:
…of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God,
Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.
The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
(1 Timothy 1:5)
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
(2 Timothy 2:15)
