Paul wrote in Philippians 2:7 that Jesus embraced His humanity in becoming our example in every-way. He who were equal to God gave up everything to become equal to us, mankind. This was also the only way to reconcile man to God, because sin had to be destroyed and mankind needed this opportunity to become new creatures in Him.
So that if any one is in Christ, that one is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation; whereas God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and putting the word of reconciliation in us. Then we are ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as God exhorting through us, we beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For He has made Him who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
(2 Corinthians 5:17-21.)
Jesus first became equal to mankind, and through His life, death and resurrection He opened the door through which each of us can now be equal to Him. He still is the way the truth and the life, but are we walking in it?
